EXIF Metadata Viewer & Remover

100% local v1.1.4

See every hidden tag a photo carries — camera, lens, exposure, timestamp, even the exact GPS location — then strip it all and download a clean, privacy-safe copy. Everything happens in your browser; your photo and its location data never leave this device.

How this works & what gets removed

Reading. Tags are parsed locally with exifr (EXIF / TIFF / GPS / XMP / IPTC / ICC). Your file is read into memory in this tab and never sent anywhere.

Guaranteed clean decodes the image and redraws its pixels onto a Canvas, then re-encodes. A Canvas carries no metadata, so this removes everything — at the cost of a fresh JPEG/PNG encode. The photo's current orientation is baked into the pixels so the clean copy is never rotated.

Lossless JPEG uses piexifjs to delete the EXIF/APP1 segment without touching the pixels — great when you need byte-identical image data, but it may not strip every XMP/IPTC block and it drops the orientation tag.

HEIC / RAW. Metadata can be read, but browsers can't re-encode these formats. The clean copy is produced as JPG or PNG. If the photo can't be decoded for preview, convert it first with the HEIC → JPG tool.
